| Dear Pax, It gives me great pleasure to honor you on this 200th meeting of the Dallas Civil War Round Table. You have made it your mission – a successful one – to have everybody who is anybody in Civil War scholarship address your group. You always treat guests graciously, and respect them for the authority they exercise in their field. Each has felt honored by your invitation to speak in Dallas. Of all your guests, I have been the most honored by you and the Dallas Civil War Round Table. Not only did you allow me to be your inaugural speaker, you also made me the star of every September meeting for years. But the greatest tribute you bestowed on me was establishing the Grady McWhiney Award, and making me the first recipient. I am deeply honored. My congratulations on 200 great meetings! Grady McWhiney The Grady McWhiney Research Foundation, President |

Dear Pax: This day is a tremendous benchmark for the Round Table you created 200 meetings ago. What a great success it has been. What a signal tribute to your dedication and leadership. The array of great meetings and the parade of great historians who have come here at your beckoning to enlighten us all have been truly impressive. I can only add my appreciative thanks to you for giving me the opportunity to play a small part in it over the past 10 years. I have spoken to many Round Tables across the country in that decade and I can truly say that none are as well run, as well led, as on fire with enthusiasm and love for the Civil War past as the Dallas Round Table. And that, sir, tracks right back to you. It’s continuing success and its personality are stamped with your own. It would not have happened but for you. Congratulations and my highest hope for another 200. Warmest regards, “Jack” John C. Waugh |

Dear Pax and Gerry, I would like to commend you on the 200th meeting of the Dallas Civil War Round Table. Its success is due in large part to the hard work of the two of you and your commitment to this group of individuals. I have enjoyed the numerous occasions when I have been a guest speaker and I look forward to seeing you again in the future. In closing, I offer you my congratulations for preserving the past through your outstanding work in the field of Civil War. Sincerely, Edwin C. Bearss |

As one who has spoken to more Civil War Round Tables than any other historian, I know one unchallengeable truism: it takes one individual to give life to, and to sustain, a Round Table. One man was behind the creation, he oversees the monthly activities, and the same person is the chief dreamer of the future. Pax Glenn personifies that fact. He is the Dallas Civil War Round Table. On this occasion, I take happiness and pride in congratulating him. He is a true worshipper of history, and he is my treasured friend. James I. Robertson, Jr. |

Dear Pax, Congratulations on the occasion of the 200th meeting of the Dallas Civil War Round Table. If my math is correct that means something like twenty years, an entire generation. It hardly seems possible! In the short seven years that I’ve lived in North Texas, I’ve seen how much you do to promote the study of one of the most important and interesting epochs of U.S. history. In doing so, you’ve not only made many lives richer and more enjoyable, but you’ve also done more than your share, as a citizen, to make our society better. Many, many thanks for your hard work, vision, persistence, and unfailing kindness. Keep up the good work. Here’s hoping that you’ll continue to be Dallas’s “Mr. Civil War” for the next generation, and the one after that. With Warm Regards, Steven E. Woodworth Texas Christian University |

Dear Pax, I want to congratulate the Dallas Civil War Round Table for celebrating its 200th meeting this month. This would not be possible but for the efforts of people like Pax Glenn. It takes someone like Pax to keep the organization not only going, but growing. The Dallas CWRT has one of the finest reputations in the country. I wish I could be there to tell Pax how much I have personally enjoyed working with him over the past few years and how much I have appreciated his invitations to speak to such a fine organization. He has made everyone of my trips enjoyable, as he has been the perfect host. The Dallas CWRT is very lucky to have someone like Pax as a dedicated member, and I want to add my congratulations to this celebration. Sincerely, Anne J. Bailey The Georgia Historical Quarterly, Editor |

Dear Pax, What a wonderful thing you have done! The Dallas Civil War Round Table thrives today because of your leadership these past 16+ years. You’ve been our general while doing the picket duty of the private. Like any good general, you’ve had the help countless individuals without whom you could not have been successful. But, also like any good general, the people who have toiled beside you have done so out of love and respect for their leader. What a fear, keeping the Civil War going for 16+ years. Not even Lee and Grant could have done that (thankfully our re-fighting of it hasn’t been nearly as bloody). Civil War roundtables around the country could lovingly say about Pax Glenn: “Boys, he’s not much for looks, but if we’d had him we wouldn’t be caught in this trap.” That quote actually came from a captured Union soldier describing Stonewall Jackson, but we could say the same of youÉwell, maybe not the part about the looks but we certainly wouldn’t have done as well without your leadership. Congratulations on your service to the Dallas Civil War Round Table. The Pearce Civil War Collection and Museum salutes you for everything you’ve done to further the cause of Civil War scholarship and Research. In your honor, we have chosen 20 books from our newest collection and will dedicate them to you, your honor. The bookplate will read: “For his many years of outstanding service to the cause of Civil War Scholarship and Research, the Pearce Civil War Collection dedicates this book to the honor of Pax Glenn of the Dallas Civil War Roundtable.” Thank you for all you have done. Sincerely yours, Darrell Beauchamp, Ed.D. Dean of Special Collections The Pearce Civil War Collection and Museum, Navarro College. |

To Pax Glenn on the 200th meeting of the Civil War Round Table, Dallas. My hat is off to you, Pax Glenn, for your hard work and excellent leadership in founding and running the Dallas Civil War Round Table. It has had an amazing success in bringing in some of the most distinguished Civil War historians in the country to talk about their ideas and their books. The range of topics discussed is immense and continues to provide new ideas about the greatest of American wars. Congratulations to you on the 200th Civil War Round Table of Dallas meeting, and I hope you will continue to provide the same inspired leadership in the years ahead. Dear Pax, Congratulations on your 200th meeting milestone. I first met you in the early 1990s when Jerry Russell made an appearance at one of your meetings. Although I am not able to join the Dallas Civil War Round Table on a regular basis due to my travel schedule with History America, I am a fairly good judge of the good and the not-so-good. I have attended Round Table meetings all over the country and Dallas is one of the best. Your leadership has kept the enthusiasm high and loyal people coming back all these years. You have become synonymous with the Dallas Civil War Round Table and my wife, Julia, and I extend heartfelt congratulations to you on this memorable evening. Sincerely yours, Pete Brown History America TOURS |

| Dear Pax, I wanted to congratulate you on the 200th meeting of the Civil War Round Table of Dallas. On the other hand, it may be equally apt to tell you that I am sorry that you have had to shoulder such a heavy load for so many years. Without your personal effort, the roundtable would not exist. You have been a model for founders of roundtables throughout the state. When I first received a teaching position, you were so kind to invite me to speak to your group even though there were other scholars that likely would have done a better job. I appreciated that you and the group took an interest in me. Now that I am no longer in academics, I feel lucky to have the group to satisfy my intellectual curiosities that I often do not have time to pursue on my own. Again, I want to offer my thanks and congratulations. Kindest Regards, Dallas Cothrum, Ph.D. Masterplan Consultants, Dallas, TX |

The mission of the Confederate Research Center since 1963 has been to support and promote the serious study of the Confederacy. It is no secret that Pax Glen deserves much credit for this continuing success.
