Dr. Anne J. Bailey

Anne J. Bailey, Ph.D.

Dr. Anne J. Bailey is Professor of History and Geography at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Ga. She earned a B.A. from the University of Texas, Arlington in 1982, an M.A. from Texas Christian University in 1984 and a Ph.D. degree in 1987 from Texas Christian University under the guidance of Dr. Grady McWhiney. Dr. Bailey has written many books including Portraits of Conflict: A Photographic History of Georgia in the Civil War, Between the Enemy and Texas: Parson's Texas Cavalry in the Civil War, The Chessboard of War: Sherman and Hood in the Autumn Campaigns of 1864, and War and Ruin: William T. Sherman and the Savannah Campaign.

Dr. Bailey is currently editor of the Georgia Historical Quarterly and the Society of Civil War Historians newsletter. She is also a fellow of the Grady McWhiney Research Foundation.
