John C. "Jack" Waugh


John C. "Jack" Waugh, is a veteran former newspaper correspondent and bureau chief. Since 1989, he has turned his talents to historical subjects. His first book, The Class of 1846, won the New York CWRT's Fletcher Pratt award. In 2000 he received the Grady McWhiney Award of Merit by the Dallas CWRT. He has also written Sam Bell Maxey and the Confederate Indians, Last Stand at Mobile and Reelecting Lincoln, the Battle for the 1864 Presidency. His book, Surviving the Confederacy was published in September 2002. In early 2003, Edwin Cole Bearss: History's Pied Piper, a tribute to one of America's great historians, was published. Jack is a resident of Pantego, Texas, and a member and popular speaker at the CWRT Dallas.
